Spc Carlos E.Wilcox IV - Mission Debriefing

Friday morning started out with dark sky's and a heavy down pour prior to our escorting the American Hero to Gods church. When the rain came down it was no doubt Gods tears for the family, both of sadness and of happiness knowing one of his children Carlos E. Wilcox was coming home to be with him. The rain and winds stopped as God knew it was time for At 9:30am we were kickstands up from the funeral home to bring this Hero and his family to those waiting at the church.

With squad cars lights going we started the journey as we slowly rolled down 80th, the streets were lined with hundreds from the community to show their support for the fallen Hero. We can tell you it was with a heavy heart as we rode, but we were so proud to see America come out and show this family the support they needed. When we took a left onto Jamaica Avenue there were hundreds more Patriots lining both sides of the street, some standing alone, some in groups, almost all holding American flags. The point of the escort we will never forget was when we came to where there must have been over 50 or so small children ranging from 5-10 yrs old standing lined up and all holding American flags. That's when our vision got blurred, as we looked at these little kids thinking to ourselves that someday some of them may become our future military men or women. What struck us the most, it was as if they knew how important this day was to honor a fallen Hero as their little eyes were wide open and not a smile on one, they knew, they knew of the Heroes sacrifice for them.

We arrived at the church to a flag line fit for a Hero, a sea of Red, White and Blue it was a beautiful sight to behold . After the Hero was honorably taken into God's building it was time for the Patriot Guard to deliver our plaque to the family. This part is never easy for us as it is with such sadness to see the family that has been torn apart by the sacrifice. After we gave the Wilcox family our small token of remembrance it was without question that this Hero was no doubt the best of the best because of the strenght that we saw in his family. Gob Bless Spc Carlos E. Wilcox IV and God Bless his family.

We want to thank all the members of the Patriot Gaurd for showing their support to this family because without a question you do make the difference!! We have said this before but we will say it again, we are so proud to be associated with each and everyone of you, thank you for what you do!

We want to give a special thanks to NE sector ARC Dawn Sherwood for the great job she did holding the staging at the church, thanks also to Sate Captain Doug Bley, thank you both for your help. Also a Big thanks to Tim Leonhardt for all his hard work in helping coordinate the many things that were going on in such a short period of time. Thank you to the escort riders that assisted us, you know who you are. Its been one long draining weekend and unfornately were not done folks, keep doing the right thing, they need us more now than ever. Its about Honor, Dignity and Respect. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
